Player Safety
FUSA is committed to the safety and wellbeing of every player.
Concussion Awareness
FUSA follows concussion protocols aligned with CDC, US Youth Soccer, and CJSA standards. Any player suspected of having a concussion is removed from play immediately and may not return until cleared by a healthcare professional.
SafeSport Training Requirement
SafeSport is a national program dedicated to protecting youth athletes from abuse, misconduct, bullying, harassment, and other forms of inappropriate behavior.
All FUSA-authorized adults who interact with players, including coaches, Parent Managers, and Assistant Team Managers, are required to complete and maintain annual SafeSport certification before participating in club activities. SafeSport training must be renewed each year to remain in compliance with the FUSA club and CJSA requirements.
Reporting a Safety Concern
If you suspect abuse or have a safety concern, use the U.S. Center for SafeSport's Report a Concern (opens in new tab) tool.
Mandatory reporting timelines: Connecticut law requires reporting within 12 hours; federal law requires reporting within 24 hours.
