COVID-19 Announcement - Travel Teams

We are reaching out with important updates and information regarding the spring season, a virtual smart home training opportunity, potential summer offering, and tryouts. Please review this email in detail and stay tuned for further updates.

Spring League Update/Refunds:
Per the consensus vote of Southwest District (SWD) clubs, the spring season as organized by the district has been cancelled. While this is not the news any of us wanted to hear, the official cancellation of the season allows our FUSA Treasurer to begin the process of providing full-refunds (excluding tryout fee). Fees for the spring season will be refunded to all players who were scheduled to compete on teams entered in the SWD. With over 600 players impacted, we anticipate this process taking a couple weeks to complete. Please be patient and know that our volunteers will provide refunds as quickly as possible.

Virtual Smart Home Training:
Olé Soccer and FUSA have come up with a training plan to help our players continue to develop their skills while at home.

For the next 6 weeks, Olé Soccer coaching staff will release 3 age group appropriate
training videos every Sunday. These videos will contain exercises and tips on how to stay "soccer active" while following local authorities and government recommendations to stay at home and remain socially distant.

Below is the link to this week's Smart Home Training videos.

Videos can be accessed (every Sunday) directly from the Olé Soccer website. We encourage all FUSA players to visit the website, watch the videos, and keep a ball at their feet during these unprecedented times. Hopefully we will be back out on the pitch together again very soon!

Potential Summer Offering:
The SWD announced last week that there are plans to pursue organizing a summer competition. The timing and format will depend upon further guidance from the state/Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA) and the level of club interest. At this time, this is all we know. Once we have further details, we will communicate them so interested FUSA families may register. It may be 3-4 weeks before we have additional information.

2020-2021 Tryout Dates:
While we cannot confirm the exact dates for FUSA 2020-2021 tryouts, we are tentatively planning to hold tryouts on the weekends of June 20th-21st and June 27th-28th. We will provide more information regarding exact dates/times/locations for each age group and how to register for tryouts once we have more clarity from both state and local authorities. For now, please "save these dates." More information to follow.

We are heartbroken at the loss of our spring season. Like many of you, we are drawn to the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and community that the youth soccer experience provides. The absence of this season only serves to make us appreciate it even more. Those values learned are what carry us through difficult times and we are confident we will emerge from this to take the pitch stronger than ever.

Thank you for your continued support of both FUSA and our coaching partners at Olé Soccer. We have been providing updates as soon as we receive them and will continue to do so. We will aim to provide our next update once we have more news to share. In the meantime, please stay home, stay active, and stay safe!

GO FUSA!
